Lisa is a great nurse and mentor. She always goes above and beyond for her patients. She is a great teacher and is someone whom everyone looks up to. I really enjoy working with her and am so proud to have her on our unit to provide the excellent care that she gives every day.
Lisa recently discovered an underlying cardiac issue on a baby who had been on our unit for two weeks. In this case, the baby had no initial symptoms and no murmur at the beginning of life. Lisa just happened to be caring for this baby over the weekend and discovered the baby had developed a sudden murmur. She pointed this out to our NNP and MD at this time. The following day, Lisa noted the sound of the murmur had changed. She decided to investigate things a little further (4 extremity BPs and upper/lower pulses) and this got the ball rolling for this patient. She decided to investigate things a little further (4 extremity BPs and upper/lower pulses) and this got the ball rolling for this patient. The patient remained stable the whole time with no other signs and symptoms present. We ended up shipping this baby out the same day.
I am very thankful Lisa was caring for this patient that day and I believe she really helped save this baby's life.
