When your heart is aching, with no relief in sight, and you're dependent on an analytical, cold assessment of your demise, you need more than competence to provide good care. On one such day, I was given several options by several different doctors - cold, hard facts with many discrepancies; I was totally over whelmed. My pain was over the top; in anguish, tears slowly trickled down as I said, "I don't know what to do". Lisa knelt beside me, placed her hand on my arm and gently said - "Let's just focus on one thing at a time, the pain block. It's rare we get to try something out before it becomes final. Give it a try, you only get one chance and I think it's worth a try." Lisa had already spent a lot of time listening to my fears and worries about my end of life so what she said meant the world to me because I trusted her, she brought me a sense of security and I knew she really cared about me. Lisa was a rock for me in the middle of this storm. I love that girl! This is exceptional care!
