November 2018 Honoree
lisa dukes, RN
We had a patient who came in critically ill. Her and her husband are currently homeless and living in their vehicle. The patient ended up requiring intubation, among other things and the husband was visibly distressed. Lisa, on her own time, went out and purchased the patient's husband a few changes of clothes, some slippers and a bag of assorted snacks. She came back during the night shift and wanted to be assured that everything would be handled discreetly. She brushed it off, not wanting any kind of recognition. The patient's husband was not her responsibility, but she went above and beyond in her care.
Thank you, Lisa, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
