I felt that Lisa created an environment where I felt no judgment. I felt free to be physically sick, as strange as that seems to say. I was gross, smelly and detestable to look at, but from her and her staff, I felt free from judgment. That encouraged me to be open with whoever cared to ask me why I felt so weak and valueless.

Although Lisa has acted as a preceptor on 7A numerous times, assumes leadership roles on the unit, and is well-liked by her peers, this honor is special because it comes from a patient. A patient who, at one of the worst times of his life, felt more whole because of Lisa's empathetic care.
Lisa, thank you for being a good employee, a teacher, a team player, and a leader. But most of all, thank you for being a wonderful nurse and giving our patients empathetic care, sometimes under not so ideal conditions. Congratulations on a job well done!
