On a cold day in March, the staff of 7 South experienced one of those challenging days that many people know about, but few understand. It was a day of many discharges and many admissions. In the morning hours, there were two patients that had code rapid response team called. The complications these patients were suffering from were very labor intensive for both the primary nurses and staff. This was complicated by the charge nurse being in the count. We were able to successfully transfer both patients to the ICU and meet the needs of our patients. This was largely due to the efforts of Lisa Fisher.
Lisa was wonderful in the assistance she provided to the nurses who had these patients that were sent to ICU and to the nurses who wereassisting in the codes. She passed meds, answered questions from patients and called physicians for these nurses all while maintaining open communication with their nurses. On top of this, she was training a new nurse and was providingher witha good experience. To make it better, she did it all in her usual kind, polite and respectful way. At the end of the day, when the dust settled, the three of us had a moment to reflect on the day and we all agreed that the assistance Lisa provided made a huge impact on both our day and the wellbeing of our patients.
As if this were not enough, Lisa provides this same fantasticteamworkand attitude every day and has for as far back as we can remember. For some of us, that is over 10 years. This goes back to when she was a unit secretary and she performed above and beyond. We believe that Lisa truly lives Trinity's FOCUS values and is deserving of recognition. Lisa is an unsung hero.
