I cannot even begin to express the awe at how well Lisa Galloway was able to handle the nuttiest shift I've seen in a while. Lisa had emergencies hit back-to-back on almost every one of her patients, and she handled each of them with such grace and confidence.
Her first patient was very confused, and we had to call a Code Gray. Lisa made sure that I wasn't left alone with the patient and made sure that the patient was calm and safe before leaving the room as well. Right after that, she saw that another patient had an elevated troponin and quickly got an EKG even though the Tele said the patient was sinus. The patient was showing a STEMI, and she made sure the doctor was contacted immediately. Lisa was even able to calm the family enough until the doctor got there to explain what was going on.
As this was going on, another one of her patients ended up being Covid positive. She quickly told me not to enter the room anymore as she wanted everyone to have as little contact as possible. If she panicked, I couldn't tell because her poker face is top-notch. Lisa made sure all of her patients were taken care of swiftly and appropriately and I almost had to beg her to let me help with anything. Also, another nurse jumped in to help, and it was so awesome to see two nurses have each other's back like that. It is days like this that remind me why I work at ASNW, and why I love the team that I work with.
