Dr. Lisa Gardner is an exemplary professional. She does an exceptional job in preparing for her classes and making sure the students have the proper resources needed to be successful in the classroom. Dr. Gardner is passionate about educating the next generation of Florida A & M University SON advanced practice nurses to provide compassionate care to diverse populations. She is experienced in caring for underserved populations and she challenges students to broaden their perspectives. Dr. Gardner is a great role model and shows commitment to students’ learning.

Her commitment and excellence in caring were shown when she personally purchased items to avoid students missing class. She also coordinated and led the School of Nursing's first research team. She has an outstanding reputation with many of our clinical agencies and she is usually the person agencies reach out to when they are having an issue. Dr. Gardner also collaborates with a community/public health nursing initiative to provide physical exams and health education to children in areas lacking these services. This affords her the opportunity to teach Family Nurse Practitioner students to provide culturally sensitive care to a diverse population. Her passion and enthusiasm for teaching are evident in both didactic and clinical settings. Students describe her as knowledgeable, devoted, thorough, reliable, and passionate, and her teaching style as creative, engaging, and enjoyable. Dr. Gardner holds students to the highest expectations while supporting them to achieve objectives. As one student stated, “Dr. Gardner is truly an asset to the School of Nursing (SON).”
