When our daughter was airlifted to Children's National, Lisa Gerolamo was her nurse for the three days we were in ICU. During those three days, Lisa and my daughter developed a special bond as a result of Lisa being more than just a nurse. Lisa knows the names of all her stuffed animals, watched her favorite show, let her pick out her outfit, rubbed her head all the time, and continually supported our daughter through her fight. They even had a special handshake. Lisa allowed me to cry on her shoulder during my darkest moments and always tried to make us laugh. When we left ICU, Lisa came and visited my daughter. I can't say enough about Lisa, only that she is an angel on earth. She is so deserving of this award.
