A Veteran presented to the front desk, Primary Care Bldg 1. This Veteran was not assigned to Primary Care. The Veteran presented with medical symptoms as well as housing issues. He was in a situation where he had lost all of his belongings and had been staying outside in 20-degree weather at night. Lisa was made aware and she took the Veteran back to assess his medical issues. Lisa demonstrated advocacy by working together with the Homeless PACT RN and provider to help with services to provide shelter. Ms. Harper is a true asset to Primary Care and the true meaning of the VA’s ICARE mission. Lisa Harper exemplified the commitment to serve her patients by honoring the Veteran and forming a relationship of trust and care.
