Lisa is one of the most compassionate nurses I have ever had the pleasure of working with. She is the true example of someone who nurses from the heart, and each of her patients can see that through the care that they receive from her. Lisa has worked in the ER here at Wesley Woodlawn for a number of years. Since our ready care area has opened, she spends most of her shifts working in that area.
We have patients that come in often and know Lisa by name. Some even ask where she is when she is gone. Lisa recently went on a long vacation out of the country, and before leaving, she told me that she was going to miss her patients while she is gone. She is such a genuine person. She sits down with every patient and takes the time to visit with them and make each one feel at ease.
One example of the exceptional care Lisa gives to her patients is about a person who came in with foot pain. At dismissal, the woman told Lisa that she had to walk home because her family was unable to pick her up, although she did not live far away. Lisa was kind enough to push the patient in a wheelchair all the way out to Woodlawn Blvd, so that would reduce the distance the patient had to walk. The patient was so grateful, and Lisa was happy to do it.
