Lisa K. Holland, RN

During my stay at CAMC Memorial cardiac unit, I was blessed to have Lisa Holland as my nurse. Thank God she was there when suddenly I couldn’t breathe, and I felt like I was dying. My lungs had partially collapsed and were filling with fluid. She put her arm around me and said, “You’re alright, I’m right here. I’m not leaving.” Those words kept me from panicking and relaxed me enough to get through the scariest moment of my life, until I went to surgery. To say her presence and those words were a lifesaver is no exaggeration. This nurse is a truly special human being and an angel here on Earth. I owe her so much. She also brought to the attention of other staff that one of my arms should be restricted and not used for blood draws or BP readings, as it had been. She always went above and beyond, exceeding the criteria for this award.
