Lisa is a registered nurse in Edgerton Hospital’s Emergency Department. Since joining our team, she has been instrumental in education, implementation of new products and workflows, and providing excellent care. Lisa is empathetic, confident, and intelligent, continually using her critical thinking skills to provide patient care.

On a cold day in December of 2021, the team in Edgerton Hospital’s ER was working a normal day, a new normal since the pandemic. Lisa happened to be working her shift as RN this particular day when a patient presented with critical needs. As the entire team worked diligently to care for this patient, things turned from bad to worse. It was determined that this patient would need emergency surgery. Time was of the essence. This is when Lisa sprang into action. Due to hospital capacities related to COVID, area hospitals and operating rooms were not accepting new patients on transfer. Lisa took it upon herself to contact a known surgeon in the community who works at SSM St. Mary’s Hospital in Janesville. Lisa was able to connect and arrange for the surgeon to come to Edgerton Hospital and perform this surgery after organizing emergency credentialing. Lisa’s extraordinary efforts aided in saving this patient’s life. And, this Extraordinary Nurse should be celebrated!
