I came to the ER after falling and sustaining a laceration on my head. Unfortunately, the doctor on duty didn’t perform a thorough enough exam of the laceration. He didn’t closely look at it and said I didn’t need any treatment. He told me I could go home and, if it started to bleed, just put pressure on it and it would stop. I told him repeatedly that my husband said I had a bad cut on my head as he looked at it for me.

I will always be grateful to my wonderful nurse, Lisa. She was so kind and caring and listened to me. She displayed such warmth and competence and made me feel so much better after my uncomfortable and frustrating encounter with the doctor on duty. She offered to wash some of the blood out of my hair and cleaned my laceration well. She then notified the doctor of what she saw, and he came back in and hurriedly put four staples in the laceration. She kindly helped to brace and support me while the doctor put the staples in.

If it had not been for Lisa, I feel I wouldn’t have received the proper treatment for why I came to the ER. She is a special person who deserves recognition for being such an awesome nurse. God bless you, Lisa. You were a true gem.
