I am writing to you to recognize the excellent nursing care that my daughter received when she was a patient in the Step-Down Unit. The nursing care that she received while there is very much appreciated.
While the care, in general, was excellent, there is one nurse that I would like to acknowledge as exceptional. Her name is Lisa. As sick as my daughter was, she told me how kind Lisa was, and how good she made her feel. Lisa sat with my daughter and told her that she recognized they were both the same age. Lisa told her that different choices she might have made would have changed where she was in life. She encouraged my daughter that it wasn't too late for her to make a change.
The kindness, compassion, and empathy that Lisa showed my daughter means more than words can say. While her life ended far too soon, the knowledge that she experienced this compassion at a time when she was feeling so scared and sick makes her loss just a little easier to bear.
