Nurse Lisa Linker demonstrated excellence in a thorough, comprehensive, and patient-oriented “initial patient interview.” Each question was presented in a manner that was both easy to understand and answer. At all times, I felt that careful consideration was given to my answers and subsequent medical concerns. When questions regarding military sexual trauma were asked, Nurse Linker’s acute attention and discernment of my reticence to answer questions were immediately addressed with follow-up questions. Forty-plus years of repressed emotions, pain, and hurt surfaced. Nurse Linker was the first and only medical provider to demonstrate concern, knowledge, and professionalism to ask appropriate follow-up questions. I will forever be indebted to Nurse Linker for initiating an awareness of my repressed trauma. Please extend my sincerest appreciation and thanksgiving for her professionalism and obvious concern. I now have begun the journey to healing and recovery.
