In addition to being highly competent and a phenomenal mentor, Lulu has a therapeutic approach to bedside care. We recently had a patient and family that struggled to find an acceptable consensus with us in relation to our pain management strategies. Lulu, through collaboration with the attending physicians, therapists, patient, and family, was able to structure the patient's regimen in a way that was acceptable to the patient and family while addressing the safety concerns of the clinical team. As the patient was eventually discharged, she and her family were able to go home with confidence that they could safely continue the recovery process. Although this describes expected outcomes, Lulu's approach and her ability to reassure the patient and family, by meeting them where they were and projecting clinical confidence, made all the difference in the world.
