Lisa was continually kind and patient.
I was called to place a PICC line at Sparrow Clinton Hospital. When I arrived, I was met with a smile by all the nursing staff, but Lisa stood out. Lisa answered all of the questions I had to assist me with the PICC insertion and then I observed as she kindly answered questions the patient's family had. I witnessed Lisa as she interacted with nursing staff, patients, family, and me. She was continually kind and patient. The patient I needed to insert a PICC in was very combative and confused. Lisa assisted me with the entire PICC insertion to ensure both the safety of the patient and me. Again, she was kind and loving during the entire procedure. The PICC insertion was difficult and lengthy. Lisa requested her nursing peers to watch her other patients while she assisted me throughout the procedure. Lisa needed to be draped in underneath a sterile barrier and hold the patient's hand. Even though the position was uncomfortable for her, she made sure that her patient was safe and comfortable. Lisa held a smile and a kind disposition the entire time I saw her. I very much feel that this is how Lisa always carries herself. Putting others first, exhibiting kindness, compassion, and patience. Lisa shines. Lisa is very deserving of this DAISY Award. She is truly an extraordinary nurse who stands out.
