Lisa went out of her way to go to safety stop in the middle of the night and get the baby a car seat that would appropriately fit her.
A patient was too small to fit in the car seat that her parents had brought for her.

On night shift Lisa attempted to do a car seat test on the baby but found that she did not safely fit into it. She was due to go home the next day and she was 4 lbs but she still didn't fit in her 4lb car seat. Lisa put together a whole bundle of resources for the parents to get a new car seat that would be appropriate for the baby. She printed instructions for them on how to use safety stop. The next day parents did not get to the unit until night shift. They were planning on going to safety stop the next morning to get a different car seat for her. Lisa came to check in on the parents and did not want the patient's discharge to be delayed if the parents could not get a car seat. So, Lisa went out of her way to go to safety stop in the middle of the night and get the baby a car seat that would appropriately fit her. She brought it in and gave the parents full instructions on how to put her in it. She was super helpful and resourceful to them. They were very appreciative of her. They are very young and this is their first baby and that other car seat was a gift that had been given to them so this was stressful for them to be in this situation. Lisa was able to put them at ease and ensure that they could safely take their baby home. I was very appreciative of her and all her help. The patient will hopefully be able to go home tomorrow now instead of her discharge being delayed due to the car seat issue.
