Lisa's colleagues state that she is truly committed to her patients, profession, and Sentara Home Care. Lisa is passionate in providing the highest level of nursing care and demanding nothing less from her fellow professionals. She is empathetic and selfless toward her patient's unique situations; and works well with her teammates, family members, and other care providers - ensuring the patient care experience is exceptional. Lisa's love of the nursing profession is apparent by the patient incident that occurred while making a follow-up call to check on her patient's status.
Lisa was checking on a patient by phone, and the patient stated she was hot and kept dropping the phone. Lisa thought patient stated she was in the hospital but was unsure. Lisa lost the call and was unable to reach the patient. She then diligently reached out to multiple family members and was able to reach a friend who called the patient's son. The patient had not been taken to the ED, so the son headed to the apartment. Lisa called 911 and gave applicable patient history. EMS found the patient unresponsive with a blood sugar of 21. EMS was able to treat the patient and her blood sugar recovered by the time she arrived at the ED.
Lisa's persistence in ensuring the patient was cared for appropriately shows her commitment to providing the highest quality patient care without exception every day.
