Lisa Pearson sees this community as her own. She loves the people of the community and treats them like her own family. She believes that being a nurse at Aylett Medical center is her mission. She always goes the extra mile for her patients. I found out by accident because she doesn't want others to know, but she goes to our neighborhood pharmacy and will pay co-pays on medications when patients cannot afford them. She does this anonymously.
One of our patients turned 100 years old, so Lisa bought a card and had all the staff sign it. She then made sure the patient received the card by her 100th birthday.
We have another patient that can be difficult at times and he has been a poorly managed diabetic with medical complications. Lisa meets with him weekly and goes over his glucose readings and what he is eating when they are elevated. She then educates him on his diet. She has been able to get his Hgb A1c down from 8.2 to 7.3 by educating him and following up with him weekly. She also goes the extra mile by spending extra time with him listening and showing him that someone cares. In turn, we have seen a positive change in him when he comes to the office.
Lisa also donates leave time when staff is on medical leave to help them financially and again this is always done anonymously. She always makes sure no family is left behind when we had two families for our office Angel Tree. We as staff could only afford to do one family, but she took it amongst herself to provide all the wishes of the family that was left. She is a representative of pure positivity to all our employees here at Aylett. She lifts us up and reminds us to push forward and reminds us of what we stand for here in our Bon Secours group.
