September 2021 Honoree
Lisa Pirog, BSN, RN, PCCN
Lisa has gone above and beyond to help me. She treated me like family and is amazing at what she does. This 34 year old patient has been hospitalized since June of 2021. Prior to his admission, he was living a happy life working and spending time with his family. Well that was taken away when he experienced a seizure and became ventilator dependent. Unable to perform his daily activities and unable to speak, he became very vulnerable, needing everyone's care to meet his basic needs. The feat of the unknown about his future was an unrealistic topic. He easily became depressed and scared, not knowing what to expect next. The only way of communicating was by writing. Well Lisa went above and beyond to make sure he felt safe and comfortable. She spent a lot of time allowing him to write down his questions and concerns, assuring him that he will do just fine. She was able to do everything in her power to successfully initiate the weaning process by working collaboratively with the physicians. With the minimal capability of his hand movement, he proceeded to write that “Lisa treats me like family and is amazing at what she does.” That is so true! Lisa is an outstanding nurse! Every day she comes into work to make a difference in our patients’ lives. She is compassionate in what she does, and her patients recognize her hard work.
Thank you, Lisa, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
