Being a transgender woman (M+F) it is very hard obtaining and receiving proper respect and even pronouns. Before legal name changes, it's even common to be "dead-named." While legally my name has been changed, Lisa never used wrong pronouns at any time. Furthering this, she took the time in unique ways to ensure my comfort.
Lisa worked the night shift and made sure every time my PTSD acted up at 3 am, to make time to talk to me and help me work through the flashbacks leading to anxiety and triggering my depression typically, but with speaking to with a friend/mother-like care, I found myself grounded and able to find peace. Additionally, she ensured when she could the allotted time it takes me to shave to prevent body dysphoria as well as allowing me to do my makeup. This was huge for me because dysphoria can mask the actual illness.
Because Lisa was willing to go above and beyond on these and so much more with many other patients too, I was able to be properly diagnosed, treated, and discharged with the best I've ever felt.
