The central person that made this successful story possible is Cardiac RN Lisa Renee Alexander.
JG was seen in the ED and called for admission at 1330 today with chest pain and moderate risk for coronary disease. I was able to order a Cardiac CTA after getting called and this was done at 1520 and read shortly thereafter with severe multivessel disease. I was able to consult cardiology and he will be getting LHC tomorrow. This is a 24-hour time save compared to our prior system of stress tests the next day and LHC the following.
The Coronary CTA was done within 2 hours of the order and Cardiology read this afternoon and will perform cath tomorrow. Also, this is a great example of the success of a CDU and having an area to quickly triage and evaluate these patients. The central person that made this successful story possible is Cardiac RN Lisa Renee Alexander. On the particular day mentioned above, the patient she squeezed in was the 8th Coronary CTA she had performed. Our other primary Cardiac RN was on PTO this day so Renee was solo. She also performed several Cardiac Nuclear Stress Tests and multiple other tasks. With Renee, the answer is always YES. She loves her patients and makes them feel at ease while they are in her care.
The value Renee brings to our hospital is unique and should be recognized as such. On a normal day, she is a ROCK STAR. On this particular day, she was an absolute SUPERHERO. The CCTA service has experienced greater than 100% volume growth in the current fiscal year vs the last one with one entire month remaining! This type of growth creates intense nursing challenges. Renee steps up to the plate, meets that challenge head-on every day, and hits it out of the park. To demonstrate her continuous pursuit of excellence and selfless service to patients and physicians, the very next day Renee performed a record 10 CCTA exams in one day! Thank you, Renee!
