I was fortunate enough to meet Miss Ripple and watch her nursing talent on 8 West where I was also stationed. I have the knowledge of these two patients she was assigned for the past weeks on this unit. They are both challenging in terms of the level of acuity and personality. Neither patient had eaten properly in weeks and honestly, both were quite ill. Miss Ripple spent literally hours in active COVID rooms coaxing her patients to trust her until both ate, bathed, and positioned changed; their oxygen improved. This level of skill and caring is exceptional. It deserves acknowledgment. On an active COVID unit, it is beyond compassion; it was greatness. I was truly moved and personally motivated by this nurse, and wish her to know that on that day I witnessed greatness. Their families would have been proud. I was.
