... We had a patient on 4SW who had a urostomy placed in a very difficult location. The staff RNs on 4SW tried everything they could think of so that this gentleman's urostomy would not leak. Unfortunately, the urostomy was in such a difficult location, the bags would only stay intact for approximately twenty minutes. This was very frustrating to the patient and his sister; not to mention the staff RNs who just wanted to make sure the patient stayed clean and dry.

After multiple attempts of the staff RNs on 4SW, Lisa from 4P came to 4SW. She spent about one hour looking into the patient's chart and after lots of troubleshooting, Lisa was able to come up with a solution for the urostomy. The patient remains to have a non-leaking urostomy dressing, nearly 24 hours after they came to help!
