Lisa had built a great rapport with this very pleasant gentleman and took the time out of her very busy day to assist the patient in setting up an email address to help him stay current with his medical information.
Lisa Stewart is a relatively new registered nurse in the emergency department, and it is apparent that patients are her top priority. She is continuously advocating for her patients and providing top-notch patient care. Recently, an 88-year-old patient was admitted to the hospital through the Emergency Department due to worsening symptoms of a new diagnosis. He was not very proficient with his smartphone and had never set up an email address or AHN myChart to be able to view his medical information. He knew the answers to questions being asked regarding previous recent testing but did not have the documents to show results. His testing was also performed outside of the network making it difficult to obtain the information. It was brought to Lisa’s attention that without previous testing results, the patient may have to undergo more testing to prove the diagnosis. Lisa had built a great rapport with this very pleasant gentleman and took the time out of her very busy day to assist the patient in setting up an email address to help him stay current with his medical information. By doing this, the patient was able to provide the necessary documentation to prevent repeat testing. Lisa went above and beyond to ensure this patient’s comfort and provide exceptional nursing care.
