Lisa is compassionate and caring. Lisa excels at engaging in a therapeutic relationship with her patients and families and has creative and out of the box thinking. Recently we have had a complex patient in the Peds ED, who has been in and out of the department for about 25 days of the last month. Though this patient is prone to outbursts and aggression, Lisa has approached the situation with empathy and kindness. Hoping to teach new skills to help this patient gain behavioral control, in order to decrease events of restraint/seclusion and IM medications. You can often find Lisa sitting on the floor playing a card game with this patient or drawing. Yesterday, on Lisa's break she collected leaves on her walk to engage the patient in a multi-sensory activity and coloring project. Today Lisa organized helping this patient do a collage in a safe way. Lisa's care and distraction techniques have helped to decrease violent outbursts and the use of seclusion. We are beyond blessed by Lisa's care and concern, all the while also being the charge nurse and managing 2 other emergency department patients with the same amount of empathy and compassion.
