Lisa, who has worked at the hospital for 24 years, was nominated by a patient as well as the daughter of a patient. “She went above and beyond what I consider a nurse’s duties,” her patient wrote. “I’ve just never had a nurse treat me with such respect and compassion.” When another patient was struggling in rehab, Lisa reached out to the patient’s daughter, who lives in another state. “Lisa was concerned because Mom wasn’t eating and didn’t want to do therapy,” the patient’s daughter said. “She asked for a list of foods that Mom liked so she could try to entice her to eat something.” The following week, according to the daughter, Lisa continued to check on the patient even though she was working in a different area of the hospital, “I can’t compliment her enough for her caring and concern toward my mother.”
