She is consistently accessible, generous with her time, and always willing to share her knowledge.
As a new leader at Rady Children's, I feel incredibly fortunate to have crossed paths with Lisa. From the moment we met, she created a welcoming culture of trust, compassion, and psychological safety that made it easy to connect with her. Lisa’s presence is both grounding and inspiring; she leads with authenticity and a genuine passion for mentoring others.

Over the past year, I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with Lisa on an organization-wide implementation. Through that experience, I learned so much from her. I witnessed her strength as a leader through her active listening, meticulous, thoughtful approach, and ability to be both firm and mindful. She consistently strives for excellence and sets a high standard for those around her. Lisa would intentionally set aside time to ensure information was clearly communicated and that the loop was always closed, something that made a significant difference in our success.

Although she is not my direct leader, Lisa has gone out of her way to support my professional development. She is consistently accessible, generous with her time, and always willing to share her knowledge. Her guidance has been instrumental in helping me navigate my new role in a new organization with confidence. Lisa’s visionary leadership is contagious; she uplifts those around her and fosters a true sense of pride in being part of this wonderful organization.

What has been equally meaningful is that I’ve had the opportunity to share my knowledge with Lisa, and it has always been met with enthusiasm and gratitude. She is the kind of leader who makes you feel seen, valued, and, more importantly, motivated to grow. Lisa inspires those around her to strive for better, not out of obligation, but out of genuine excitement, to be part of something greater.

Nurse leaders often work behind the scenes and are sometimes forgotten, yet they make a world of difference. Lisa is a shining example of the profound and lasting impact a nurse leader can have, not just on outcomes, but on people. With over a decade of leadership experience, I can honestly say that Lisa is a rare gem. She embodies the qualities every leader hopes to find in a mentor: wisdom, intelligence, humility, and a deep commitment to helping others succeed, thereby making the team and our organization stronger. I am so grateful for her support and proud to work alongside someone who exemplifies the very best of nursing leadership.
