I experienced a life-threatening emergency, and Lisa, our emergency room RN deserves the highest praise possible. I arrived with my husband and our 6-year-old daughter, and from the beginning Lisa did what she could to minimize any fears or concerns we had. When my ectopic ruptured while we were there, and my blood pressure plummeted, Lisa moved quickly and was the most calming presence I have ever seen. She looked me directly in the eyes, spoke quietly and calmly, and reassured me that the emergency life-saving procedures she was doing at the moment were "just because we can, no need to worry". She truly made me feel that I was in good hands. She gave me the strength to speak with my daughter, because I wasn't sure if it would be the last time, in a calm and collected way.
She even watched my daughter while my husband attended the last five minutes of the most painful ultrasound I have ever experienced. I needed him there, and the ultrasound tech would not allow them to go back there, despite my requests. Lisa knew this and in the kindest way, came back to the ultrasound room and asked the tech if she could bring my husband back and ensured that my daughter had someone to look after her. She ensured that I got what I needed in a very scary and sad time for our family.
We have no family here, and Lisa was amazing to us, and made us feel like she was our family, and during such a scary thing to go through alone, she made me feel at ease. When our mothers did arrive from out of state, I could not stop raving about Lisa because she made such an impact on us in those few hours in the emergency room.
But her caring did not end there. At the moment I was waiting to be discharged and at the exact time that I was supposed to have my first OB appt for our lost ectopic baby, Lisa arrived to sit with me and cry with me. She looked for me just to see how I was doing and to share with me a very scary experience she had as well, so similar to our process.
When she arrived in my room on the day of discharge, I truly believed her to be an angel, as she showed up right when I needed her the most, and, in addition to the doctor, Lisa saved my life. I am so grateful to her, and for who she is. Chester County Hospital, and I, are lucky to have her. I want her to know how much of an impact she made on my life and in the moments of my most significant grief. Thank you Lisa.
