Lisa Welke is an awesome nurse and an inspiration to us all. We recently had a patient who had a pacemaker placed. He was already dealing with the fact that he needed to have his foot amputated and did not know what to expect. Lisa shared her personal story with the patient about how she dealt with having her foot amputated. The patient was so very grateful. Recently he came for an appointment and told me to say hi to her and, again, expressed how grateful he was. He is anticipating getting prosthesis and looks forward to walking again. He even became teary eyed when he asked me to say "hi" to her. His wife told me that the patient has told all the members of his family about Lisa. Lisa is a true example of what great nursing is all about.
