A co-worker on the unit nominated Lisa for the award for her outstanding care and concern she showed for this patient and his family.
Lisa was nominated for her extraordinary efforts on behalf of an emergency room patient who had delivered a baby five days prior and now needed to be admitted to an inpatient bed. Lisa checked to see why this patient was so upset and she explained that she missed her baby so much. Lisa took it upon herself to find not only an empty room, but also furniture and other amenities to provide a safe, comfortable, and quiet place for mother and baby. Once the patient saw the room Lisa had set up for her, she immediately called her family to have them bring her baby for a visit. The new mother was able to spend the next few hours alone in the room to bond with her little bundle of joy. The family said they were forever grateful for this act of kindness.
