Lisa was caring and honest
At 35 weeks pregnant, I went to the hospital thinking I was paranoid and that my water broke. My husband packed up the car with essentials just in case. We get to Labor and Delivery and Lisa Williams is our nurse. Lisa reassured us that even if my water had broken that people have healthy babies at 35 weeks and sometimes just have to stay a little bit longer to help their lungs develop. From the beginning, Lisa was caring and honest with us. She checked on us several times throughout our first evening and talked to us about the swab test and what to expect. That is exactly what we needed.
When the test came back positive, Lisa still walked us through everything. She explained I would have an exam to confirm the rupture but still could come back as false positive, which is why I needed the exam. The Doctor confirmed the premature rupture of my water. I was in hysterics worried about the health of our baby, the house wasn’t ready, and I was scared. Lisa reassured me and my husband that we were having a baby, and everything would be okay! She promised she would back the next day and she would be there for our delivery if at all possible. She could tell we really wanted her there.
The next morning, she checked on us, got me liquids as I couldn’t have food, and was attentive, kind, and just amazing! She was my mama bear literally! Covid made it to where our family couldn’t be there, but I wouldn’t change our experience! Once they finished breaking my water, the painful part of the contractions hit and I was begging for an epidural!
Once they were ready to insert the epidural, Lisa came back in held me, hugged me, and kept me calm throughout it all. She truly showed us she cared about us and would do anything to make it easier. Labor went quickly after that.
What is important to note here is that my husband and I really wanted Lisa there during the delivery. She wanted to be there for us and had said all day, “Hopefully he will want to be here before 7:00.” However, at 6:50 I had just started pushing. She stayed until after 8:00, when our baby was born, to be there for us.
Lisa encouraged me throughout the whole labor. She reassured my husband and just loved us through the whole experience. We cannot say enough good things about what an amazing Nurse and person Lisa was for us. My husband and I had such a great experience at VWCH. Lisa was my mama bear, and I could never thank her enough for her love and support!
