Lisa Worthington, RN
Following surgery, and upon returning to recovery, my aunt was not at her baseline status level of functioning, and without Lisa, her engagement prior to surgery, and follow-up after, this would not have been detected.
Lisa identified that this was not normal for my aunt and a code stroke was called. The entire PACU/Anesthesia team was on point to evaluate and immediately provide appropriate care for her. Lisa went above and beyond her required duties to keep my family informed while coordinating care along with her colleagues in PACU.
Not only did Lisa demonstrate stellar clinical skills and appropriate urgency for the situation, but she also showed care and compassion to both of my aunt’s children. Lisa stayed long past her time to be off to ensure my aunt was stable and settled. My entire family is forever grateful that Lisa was in our path of care on the date of my aunt’s surgery and post-op care. We all feel she is extraordinary and a model of what nurses should be.
