Our son has spent the past 12 weeks in the NICU following his birth at 28 weeks gestation. We've been incredibly impressed with the NICU nursing staff, especially Lisa Wright. Lisa is not only the best nurse but the best healthcare professional that we've ever encountered. She cared for our son for many of his most critical early days and has continued to provide guidance to us since. She's high energy, professional, knowledgeable, and warm. We appreciate Lisa explaining complex issues in a simple, concise manner. She patiently engaged with us while we overanalyzed various medical choices. Lisa was also collaborative with the doctors, and her presence was very addictive during rounds because of her experience and proactivity. For example, she'd point out when our son wasn't tolerating medication well. We felt confident in any decisions made when she was present as his advocate. Lisa is not just knowledgeable but kind and caring. She treated our son like a sweet baby and not just a medical case. She'd talk to him and point out his personality traits which felt to us like permission to have some optimism for the future. She was persistent in making him comfortable and showed us how to interact with him when we weren't yet able to hold him. She even checked on our son during her day off following a critical procedure. We're so grateful that our son had Lisa as his nurse, and we believe she made a meaningful difference in his trajectory.
