Liz Calihan, RN was caring for a patient on a busy holiday. The patient's wife usually spent most of the time at his bedside. The patient's wife was found unresponsive and a Code BLUE was called and Liz initiated CPR. After a long battle, the wife was taken to the ED where she ended up passing. Liz was very busy that day with other patients but took the time to take the patient over to the ED where he was able to spend the last few moments of his wife's life with her. The man was able to hold her hand as she passed and as the family came to see their mother. Liz was extremely kind, patient and compassionate with both the patient and family during this truly tragic and unexpected time. Liz displayed PRIDE values and treated all involved with the utmost respect. She took time out of her busy day to make sure a husband and wife could spend such precious time together. This is only one instance I can think of where Liz truly shines. She is always a pleasure to work with and always advocates for her patients by doing what is right. Liz is a true DAISY Nurse and demonstrated poise, grace, and compassion.
