No one could ever prepare adequately to bring a child into the world knowing that their precious child's life would be cut short due to health reasons. This was the scenario that one of our patients and her family were forced to face. It takes a very special family to focus on making the most of this precious time and very special nurse to care for them during their experience. North Florida and this wonderful patient and family are truly blessed to have had Liz Griseck on the team that day in the days to follow.

Liz went above and beyond to ensure that the best, most sensitive, and compassionate care was provided to this family. It was said that Liz, "Greeted us with the warmest heart and immediately began to make us feel like family." As they prepared to meet their baby boy the patient said, "Liz held my hand and made me so calm, as my anxiety was starting to elevate." Throughout their three-day hospital stay, Liz continued to show unmatched dedication and compassion that developed into a relationship that to this day is unbroken. The day that their son went to meet Jesus they called Liz to inform her of his passing. They said, "Liz offered her sympathy and told us to please let her know if we needed anything. An hour or two later as the family arrived at our house, Liz arrived also. She drove an hour in the middle of the night, leaving her family to be with ours. From that point on, Liz wasn't just a nurse we had during the delivery of our baby, she was Family."

Liz spoke at the funeral and from there developed a friendship with an unbreakable bond. This family went on to have a little girl. "Liz is a special lady who I know touched the heart of every patient she meets. She has a true gift that God has blessed her with and because of that she blesses others!"
