I wish that Liz could have followed us in hospice. She made such a connection with my husband and myself. She cared and showed it.
Liz was my husband's homecare nurse. She was a true advocate for him. When he had an upset stomach and vomiting, she immediately got on the phone with his GP, recommending medication. As soon as he took the medication, the problem was solved. When we had issues with the wound center, Liz went to the center and solved the issue. As the caregiver, she always was concerned about me as well as my husband. When I asked to speak to her privately about his fatigue, she listened. I explained that he was literally exhausted after going to the appointment. He had appointments every day that week, and I didn't think he could make it to them. We discussed that he just wasn't getting better, and to quote my husband, he said, "his organs were going on vacation, and he did not see them returning." We could not see improvement. Liz started canceling and postponing appointments. Then she asked if we had considered Hospice. She then asked permission to talk to my husband about hospice. She asked all the right questions. He requested a presentation from OSF Hospice. He then decided to sign up for hospice, which seemed to relieve part of his stress. I wish that Liz could have followed us in hospice. She made such a connection with my husband and myself. She cared and showed it. We will be forever grateful for her expertise and caring attitude. I hope you share this with such a special person. Thank you
