Liz took care of a homeless patient of ours who had lost all his belongings prior to his admission. During the bedside report, Liz shared her concerns about the patient being discharged to the street with barely a shirt on his back. Despite working the night before, Liz came back at 1500 with a bag full of new supplies for the patient; a sleeping bag, hygiene products, and a jacket. She used her personal time and money to go way above and beyond to care for him. With the nights getting colder, these items will no doubt bring the patient comfort and safety after discharge. Several nurses at the station were blown away by her act of kindness and tears were held back.
