...When you think your child is dying and are in limbo for days trying to find out whether or not your child may have a lifelong disorder, you are simply out of your mind. She made us calm, comfortable, and realistic. She went out of her way (on top of her "normal" extraordinary duties as a nurse) to educate us so we didn't go down a dark path and stayed with the positive. She went to bat for our son to make sure tests and results were given in a reasonable amount of time. Our son is only 12 months old, so to explain that he "just can't eat for a little longer" is out of the question. Our son developed a special bond with Liz and she would carry him around the nurse station to calm him and have him interact with new people. This gave us parents a much needed break to sleep or talk amongst ourselves during this challenging time. The entire staff went above and beyond, but Liz did that and more. She is deserving of this award and it brings us great pleasure to nominate her!!
