While caring for a patient on neutropenic precautions, Liz was faced with a difficult moment. The patient's 7-year-old grandchild came to visit, proudly carrying a bouquet of flowers to give to his grandmother.

Due to the strict precautions in place, Liz had to gently explain that the flowers couldn't be brought into the room. Although she acted in the patient's best interest, Liz could see how deeply disappointed the child was.

Determined to turn the moment around, Liz went above and beyond. When she realized the hospital gift shop was closed, she asked her manager for access so she could purchase a flower bouquet card. She then brought the card to the child and helped him decorate it before presenting it to his grandma. The child was overjoyed, and the family was incredibly grateful for Liz's thoughtful gesture.
