Lizbeth Deadman is an amazing nurse, co-worker, and a unit leader. Lizbeth Deadman has been a bedside nurse on our inpatient unit for over ten years. She came to our team as a nursing student and worked really hard to become one of our best bedside nurses. Lizbeth has always worked the night shift but has also worked during days when the staffing was dire. She never complains about her work but instead always encourages others to step up and give it 100%. Liz wears multiple "professional hats," so to speak. She serves as a charge RN, nurse preceptor, nurse mentor, unit champion, and a nurse validator! She exemplifies true professional nurse qualities in her everyday practice. Liz is a hard-working employee who is a call away if her nursing team needs her assistance and expertise. Lizbeth served on SWAT team for several years. She prevented several tissue injuries for the patients by implementing skin care interventions in a timely manner. Liz stands firmly by Parkland Health's mission, and her priority has always been to ensure that patients receive safe care. Liz is an expert nurse who teaches new nurses to become the best in their profession. She sets the bar high for others to follow.

Lizbeth loves her patients and spends more time with them when she sees them struggle. There was a patient on our unit who had terrible injuries sustained from a MVC. The patient required a lot of time for nursing care. Liz spent hours talking and listening to the patient during her weekend shifts. I visited the patient on the following Monday, and she was a completely different patient from the week before. She was calm and less anxious. The patient thanked our team from the "bottom of my heart" for having LIz as her nurse. "My nurse, Liz, was amazing, and I am thankful for her."

This patient is not the first patient who recognizes Liz for her compassionate care. There were 2 letters written by patients last year who recognized Liz for her excellent care. I am thankful and honored to work with nurses like Lizbeth.
