I was admitted in the middle of January with cholestasis. An MRI was done and was pending results. A day and a half passed, and no new orders were given. I would ask other nurses what the plan was and received the same response- “waiting on MRI.” Finally, Lizette mentioned the same to me, and I told her I had told the previous nurses that I had already done an MRI. Lizette called down to radiology and confirmed my completed MRI. The radiologist had not read the results due to it being the weekend & order did not say “STAT.” Therefore, because of her advocating for me due to my pain, she was able to get my results read faster, and a consult was initiated with the trauma surgeon’s team. I ended up having a cholecystectomy, and she took very great care of me post-op. She always checked up on me and delivered great patient education on medications and the doctor’s orders. I could not have thanked her enough, and I did not get to tell her that she is a wonderful nurse. She exponentially improved my experience!
