Lois Lavoie was nominated for the DAISY Award by a patient's wife, who says she was "simply wonderful" throughout her husband's hospitalization. The nominator credits Lavoie for translating all of the medical jargon, spending time with the patient, and, most importantly, listening to and accommodating his individual needs. "She actually listened to his needs," notes the patient's wife. "It is the small, yet hugely important details that led me to nominate Lois for this award. She is not only caring, she is considerate, happy, lighthearted, funny and patient. She is the definition of a true caregiver. I wish every patient had the gift of having Lois as their nurse. We were among the lucky ones to be blessed with her care."
