Loletia “Lo” Williams, RN
Lo was nominated for this award by Dr. Craig Derkay who wrote: “Loletia is one of the most compassionate, skilled nurses in our operating room. She goes out of her way on a daily basis to comfort children who are about to go back to surgery. She is beloved by all of the surgeons, anesthesiologists, her fellow nurses, scrub techs and the administration for her extraordinary work-ethic, ‘can-do’ attitude and willingness to help out. She is the Specialty Nurse for Otolaryngology (ENT) and does an excellent job of keeping everyone’s preference cards up to date, inventory stocked and her fellow nurses well-trained to perform our procedures. As a mother and grandmother, she has that “special touch” with children who naturally come to her and trust her even when first meeting her. It is without hesitation that I nominate Loletia who is so deserving of this award.” This narrative describes Lo as a role model for relationship-based care with a special focus on teamwork and positive relationships with her interdisciplinary colleagues and the patient and family. Lo was also recognized last year by Inside Business Magazine as a “Health Care Hero”.
