Lorelei was nominated for her vigilant care of mother and baby during a difficult delivery.
The mother was admitted to the OB ED for hypotension and a drop in the baby's heart rate. Lorelei was careful to watch both mother and baby and had an instinct that something was wrong once the baby's heart rate dropped.
She took her concerns to the charge nurse and doctors, all while making sure that the family had information about what was best for the baby in the stressful situation.
"The NICU team was activated and ready to assist with any complications of the delivery," a colleague wrote in a nomination letter. "Lorelei really had all of her bases covered in case an emergency C-section was required."
Thanks to Lorelei's attentive work, both mother and baby made it through delivery safely, and the family was touched by her dedication to helping families - like theirs - that are in need.
