Lorena advocates for providing personalized human-centered care, providing them with grooming services, and most importantly, positioning them every 2 hours.
She is a member of a team that manages the biggest unit in ASH with the biggest heart to deliver compassionate care and the strongest muscles to endure the hectic and demanding work. She is well known for her professionalism, dedication, great sense of humor, and surprisingly great vocals for singing. For patients, she advocates for providing personalized human-centered care, providing them with grooming services, and most importantly, positioning them every 2 hours.
For her nurses, she leads by example, and her visibility among her staff promotes teamwork and shared governance in making sure that their patients receive the best care they deserve. Her openness to change and improvement drives her unit to repetitive transformations from medication safety to unit expansions. She also strives to ensure staff satisfaction through many reward and recognition activities in addition to balancing their work-life by initiating the staff absenteeism PI project, the biggest loser challenge for weight loss, and participating in the volleyball Tournament in Al Ahsa.
For the hospital, her unit continues to pioneer many improvement projects, like decreasing Restraints, decreasing ADEs, enhancing the clinical practice, and incorporating the latest evidence-based guidelines into the clinical setting.
In sum, she is a leader that walks the talk and presents a role model to her staff and colleagues. We are extremely happy to have her among our team and to be a DAISY Nurse.
