We recently had a very vulnerable victim present to us in our ER. She had been a victim of human trafficking. When Lori was notified that she was with us, she followed up with the patient and spent hours talking with her and listening in a very compassionate, non-judgmental way. Her ability to win the trust of the patient, who, due to circumstances in her life was not quick to trust others, allowed us to be able to connect her with community resources to help her on her healing journey. Lori was able to persuade her to connect with an advocate for victims of trafficking, who was then able to work with the patient while she was with us. Lori also really stepped up to lead and expand our SANE program, which is an important way that we live out our value of respect life. She is building a truly dedicated team of compassionate nurses to minister to victims of assault. She is also doing a great job of identifying needed resources to support her team and the patients they care for.
