The patience Lori displayed would bring tears to my eyes when she would often figure out what my mother needed.
My mother was recently admitted to Observation with what we believed to be a stroke. She was confused and was not able to follow directions or appropriately express her thoughts verbally. The first thing that impressed me was Lori's attentiveness and patience with my mother. She allowed her to attempt to relay her thoughts and then worked with her to determine what it was that she was trying to communicate. The patience she displayed would bring tears to my eyes when she would often figure out what she needed.

Once all of the tests came back and it was determined that it was not a stroke, but in fact a complex migraine, we were relieved but still concerned. Lori took the time to explain her experience with both diagnoses and to reassure my mother and myself. At one point, my mother's IV had a small amount of blood underneath the dressing at the insertion site that upset and concerned her. Lori checked it several times to ensure that it was working appropriately, and also reassured my mother by explaining symptoms that would indicate that the IV would need to be removed. She needed to do this several times due to her acute confusion, and once again, she never got frustrated and continued to be fun and compassionate.

She also relayed any concerns we had to the care providers and made sure to follow up with us after her discussion. She always explained to my mother what medications she was giving to her, even when she was confused and was able to use her beautiful personality and bring appropriate humor that lifted my mother's spirits when she was down. I felt at ease knowing she was with her when I couldn't be. My mother has said how much she liked her and that she was "so much fun" and a "fantastic nurse". I am so grateful for Lori and for the excellent care she provided. Words will never be able to express how much she is appreciated.
