Recently, Lori took care of a young trauma patient in critical condition. The trauma he suffered was not survivable. Lori was honest when the family arrived and established a trusting relationship. The patient became increasingly unstable and eventually coded. Lori spoke with the family and provided outstanding emotional support and compassion. She allowed them to get close to the patient for his final moments and say their goodbyes.
The patient gave the gift of donation through Gift of Life. Lori provided chest compressions after the patient had passed to maintain circulation from SAICU to the operating room. Afterward, she made sure to visit the family again in the waiting room to provide further emotional support.
Lori provides amazing nursing care to all of her patients and does not expect any recognition for what she does every single day.
